DNCC ward councilor Mizan on 5-day remand

MOULVIBAZAR: A court here placed Ward Councillor Habibur Rahman Mizan on five-day remand in a case lodged in arms act.

Judge Abdullah Md Salehi of Moulvibazar Chief Judicial magistrate court on Thursday (Oct 24) passed the order in the case filed with Sreemangal police station.  

Earlier on Oct 12, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Nivana Khayer Jessy placed Mizan on seven-day remand after denying his bail plea. 

Public Prosecutor Azadur Rahman confirmed the matter to Banglanews.

Mizan, councilor of Ward No-32 was arrested by Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on October 11 from Sreemangal of Moulvibazar. 

Mizan amassed huge wealth though illegal activities including running casino in the city. 

He was trying to flee the country amid the ongoing anti-graft raids.

RAB later filed two cases against him under arms and money-laundering acts.
