DHAKA: BNP-nominated mayoral candidate for Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) election Ishraque Hossain claimed that fake information was being presented in various media about a case filed by Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
While campaigning on Thursday (January 16), he said: “My case is being presented wrongly by some media. For an example, Independent TV said that the charges have been framed in the corruption case. In English, it is ‘indicted in corruption case.'
Ishraque Hossain said: “The case: notice was sent demanding wealth statement. I was out of the country. So, I could not submit it in time. There is no corruption issue here. "I hope all the media will be a little cautious about this issue to present news.”
He added saying: "I have been paying tax since 2010. They have the statement of my wealth. I have submitted my property statement to Election Commission before two elections. This is nothing but political harassment.”
The trial proceedings against Ishraque Hossain in the ACC began on Wednesday (January 15).
Judge Sheikh Nazmul Alam of the Special Judge Court-4 of Dhaka framed charges against Ishraque Hossain on Wednesday. The court also fixed February 9 for recording testimony in the case
