DHAKA: BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamg hoped the government will release party chairperson Khaleda Zia on humanitarian ground.
He said: “Our party chairperson Khaleda Zia has been imprisoned for two years.…. We hope that government will release her on humanitarian ground.”
Fakhrul came up with these remarks while addressing a rally organised in front of the BNP central office in Nayapaltan of the capital on Saturday (Feb 15).
He also said: “This Awami League is forcibly sitting in power. This government is the occupying government. They did not come to power with the mandate of the people.”
Mirza Fakhrul said: "In today's program, the police have prevented our leaders in so many ways and surrounded the office. 10-12 leaders were arrested. The government thinks they will survive by torture. This idea is wrong. No one could survive by torturing on earth.”
After the rally, BNP secretary general urged all to return home peacefully.
