DHAKA: BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said nothing was said on behalf of the party about its Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s release on parole.
“Rather, it is totally a matter of her family. They will take decision,” said Mirza Fakhrul.
The BNP leader came up with the statement after paying homage at the grave of BNP’s founder Ziaur Rahman at Sher-e -Bangla Nagar in the capital on Tuesday (February 18).
Responding to a question from reporters on phone conversion about Khaleda Zia’s release through parole, Mirza Fakhrul said: “I have said it before. Ask him (Obaidul Quader). We, on behalf of the party, didn't talk about parole. He (Obaidul Quader) will judge his statement made about the issue (parole) at this moment.”
Mirza Fakhrul said he would consider the statement made by Road Transport and Bridges Minister and Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader on Khaleda Zia’s release through parole.
