DHAKA:  BNP has announced to stage demonstration at the thana-level of the capital on Sunday (March 1).

BNP senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi announced the programme at a press conference at their central office in the capital’s Nayapaltan area on Saturday (February 29).

The demonstration is being observed across the country, but not in Nayapaltan area at 2 pm. Though it was scheduled for this place, police did not grant us permission. They created huge prevention. Leaders and activists cannot come to the central office, that is why demonstration will take place at thana-level of the capital on Sunday, said Rizvi.

This decision has been taken after BNP failed a secure a permission to launch a demonstration in Nayapaltan area of the capital protesting rejection of bail petition of Chairperson Khaleda Zia in the Zia Charitable Trust corruption case by High Court.

Earlier on February 27, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said: “We will hold the rally in all district towns and divisional cities, including Dhaka city, on Saturday.”
