The residential camp of the U-23 national football team for the upcoming AFC U-23 Asian Cup 2024 qualifiers will begin today (August 9) under the newly-appointed coach Zulfiker Mahmud Mintu at the Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan (BKSP).
Bangladesh Football Federation announced a fresh list of the primary squad of 37-member U-23s comprising the selected footballers from Bangladesh Premier League and Bangladesh Championship League a day before the camp on Tuesday (August 8).
All these players were requested to report to the team manager Manosh Chandra Das Dholu except Bashundhara Kings and Dhaka Abahani Limited players who are going to play the qualifying play-offs of AFC Champions League (ACL) 2023-24 and AFC Cup 2023-24 in August.
“The U-23 camp for AFC U-23 Asian Cup 2024 qualifiers will begin on August 9 at BKSP. Zulfiker Mahmud Mintu will be the coach and Manosh Chandra Das Dholu will be the team manager,” BFF vice-president Kazi Nabil Ahmed told the reporters on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the U-23s will play against Malaysia, the hosts Thailand and Philippines in Group H of the qualifiers on September 6, 9 and 12 respectively in Chonburi, Thailand.
U-23s primary squad: Goalkeepers: Md Asif, Mehedi Hasan Srabon, Sakib Al Hasan, Shanto Ray and Mehedi Hassan; Defenders: Ismail Hossain, Rajib Hossain, Sadekujaman Fahim, Jahid Hasan Shanta, Sabuj Hossain, Shahin Ahammad, Tanvir Hossain, Mahamudul Hasan Kiron, Yeasin Arafat and Sakil Hossain; Midfielders: Meraj Hossain Opi, Fahim Morshed, Ashraful Haqure Asiaf, Shahidul Islam, Md Sadye, Rajon Howladar, Enamul Islam Gazi, Akkas Ali, Sabbir Hossen and Jayed Ahmed; Forwards: Nihat Jaman Ucchash, Taj Uddin, Mirajul Islam, Arif Hossain, Amir Hakim Bappy, Rafiqul Islam, Borhan Uddin, Arman Foysal Akash, Sakib Bepary, Pias Ahmed Nova, Jamir Uddin and Md Nahian.
