With the wicket of Naveen-ul-Haq, Afghanistan bundled out for 156 runs in their World Cup opener against Bangladesh at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala today (October 7).
Both Shakib and Miraz picked up three wickets each. Now tigers need 157 runs to win the match.
The opening pair of Ibrahim Zadran and Rahmanullah Gurbaz gave Afghanistan a decent start after being invited to bat by Bangladesh.
The pair added 47 runs before Shakib removed Zadran for 22(25) in the ninth over. Shakib then got rid of Rahmat Shah for 18(25), following which the run-rate dropped, resulting in two more wickets.
Skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi was dismissed for 18(38) by Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Mustafizur Rahman got rid of Gurbaz in the next over for 47(62).
The fall of wickets continued as Afghanistan lost two more wickets in quick succession, with Shakib cleaning up Najibullah Zadran for 5(13), and Taskin Ahmed cleaning up Mohammad Nabi for 6(12).
