The New Zealand cricket team seems to be making the most out of their time both on and off the field in the ongoing World Cup. 

The Blackcaps have a few days off before they take the field again and hence decided to utilise their time well and met the Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama at the latter's residence in McLeod Ganj, a suburb of Dharamsala in the Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday, October 24.

Several Kiwi players and their family members went to meet the spiritual leader at his abode in Dharamsala and spent some quality time conversing with him.

Meanwhile, New Zealand have emerged as one of the top contenders to win the ongoing marquee tournament in India. 

They were able to aggregate eight points before suffering their first loss of the event at the hands of Men in Blue in Dharamsala on Sunday, October 22. Despite having injury concerns to top-notch players like skipper Kane Williamson and Tim Southee, the runners-up of the previous ODI World Cup have done fairly well in the ongoing edition.

Star wicketkeeper-batter Tom Latham has led the side extremely well in Williamson's absence and it is reflected in their on-field performances. 

Young batting sensation Rachin Ravindra is the leading run-getter for the team with 290 runs in five games, including one century and two fifties. 

On the bowling front, Mitchell Santner has been the team's leading wicket-taker in the ongoing edition with 12 wickets in five games and is also the tournament's leading wicket-taker.
