DHAKA: Four top stars of Bangladesh Cricket Team Shakib Al Hasan, Tamim Iqbal, Mushfiqur Rahim and Nasir Hossain have millions of fans and followers in their social network site Facebook. But they are not operating Facebook pages of their own.
A group runs their facbook pages as admin. The admin panel share news, status; photos and update their latest information on Facebook pages of Shakib Al Hasan, Tamim Iqbal, Mushfiqur Rahim and Nasir Hossain.
However, admin says cricketers do not have enough time to keep posting statuses, as their main duty is to focus on cricket.
The issue came to the light when Banglanews24.com published a report saying Mushfiqur Rahim congratulates Nasir as his facebook page is verified.
Banglanews got the comment of Mushfiq from his facebook page.
Later, the admin informed banglanews over phone that Mushfiq did not give any post congratulating Nasir. “We gave the status not Mushfiq.”
The admin also requested banglanews to correct the information of the report though it is the responsibility of owner for any status on his/her facebook page.
After repeated attempts, banglanews correspondent could not reach Mushfiqur Rahim over phone for his comment on the issue.
Thousands of fans used to ‘like’ their posts, pictures and make comments every moment showing their interest to their respected stars.
But Shakib along with three others cricketers have hardly time to see the likes and comments of their fans as their page run by the admin.
According to admin, Shakib out of them has access to his facebook page admin. He can give status and remove any unnecessary post from his page.
On the other hand, rest of three other celebrity cricketers have no access to their pages admin as their pages are being run only by the same admin.
Currently facebook likes of Shakib Al Hasan exceeded more than 26 lakhs, 7 lakhs of Tamim and Mushfiq and 11 lakhs of Nasir Hossain.
All of the pages but Tamim Ikbal’s have already been verified by the Facebook authority.
Usually fans expect post, status update from aforesaid cricketers themselves, but here the scenario is different.
Soon after publishing the news in Bangla version, admin of Mushfiq’s Facebook page on June 3 posted a status which is given as it is below--
“ATTENTION FANS, AN OPEN LETTER TO YOU:
Dear fans, earlier we posted this status, confirming that Mushfiqur Rahim doesn't post any status by himself on the page, it is run by admins. Well, understandably cricketers do not get enough time to keep posting statuses, as their main duty is to focus on cricket.
However, today one online newspaper agency has posted a news, criticizing the fact that the pages are run by admins and not by the player himself. Fairly speaking, we admins give immense effort to bring you all the updates about the heroes without much reward, or incentive. The work we do in this page as admin, comes directly from the dedication, and love for our beloved cricketers.
It's high time we appreciate if someone tries to do something good, instead of trying to find out faults. At the end of the, all the efforts of the admins go wasted if we see such articles. Hope you guys understand. Thanks.
