Roaring Tigers Pulverized Zimbabweans

Bangladesh Vs Zimbabwe ODI at Dhaka on 7 November 2015 Bangladesh 273/9 (Mushfiqur Rahman 107, Shabbir Rahman 57, Tamim Iqbal 40) beat Zimbabwe 128 All Out (E Chigumbara 40,  LM Jhoingje 39 , Shakib Al Hasan 5 /47, Mashrafe 2/13) by 145 runs.

Rollicking roaring tigers pulverized pathetic Zimbabweans posting a massive 145 runs win in the first of three matches ODI series yesterday at Dhaka.

When ferocious tigers Mushfique, Shakib, Tamim and Mashrafe prey in anger, lambs can do little. Mushfique and Shabbir inspired tigers put up a commanding 273 /9 when put into bat on a little difficult wicket.

But given the depth and diversity of Bangladesh bowling it was always way beyond Zimbabwean to challenge the target. Shakib mesmerized the bemused visitors with his guiles and captain courageous Mashrafe chipped in to crash the visitors to 128 all out conceding a massive 145 runs defeat .

Mashrafe squad in on the highway of yet another probable Bangla Wash. Mushfique looked graceful and elegant as he scored his fourth ODI century playing majestically well all the way.

Shakib also took his first five wickets haul again exposing the weakness of the visitors to quality left arm spin bowling.

This series has a great significance. Australia put off their scheduled tour to Bangladesh after Australian Government thought it unwise to send its team forms a security tip off. Even South African women’s team called off its tour after a few round of rescheduling.

Hectic parleys of BCB could hurriedly set up this visit by the Zimbabweans. Cricket is another religion of people in this region and cricketers are always admired and adored in Bangladesh come what may. There has not been any incident of terrorism in the cricket ground ever in Bangladesh.

Matches went off peacefully even during political programs . The other day greats like Sachin Tendulkar and Shane Warne while launching their Cricket fiesta in USA acknowledged this.

Zimbabwe won the toss and elected to field. The decision put paid as Bangladesh was soon languishing at 30/2 losing Liton and Mahmudullah very early. Tamim and Mushfique had to do a little bit of resurrecting act for a while.

Wondered why Imrul Kayes was not picked as opening partner of Tamim While Tamim was a bit tentative Mushfique looked at his fluent best. The pair put on 70 foundation setting partnership before Tamim lost his wicket losing his calm at 40.

Shakib joined his mate and were about to tee off when Shakib was unfortunately stumped off a renounce from keepers pad as he danced down to blast Siknadar Raza.

Young Shabbir joined Mushfique who by then was looking majestic. The pair played brilliantly entertaining cricket. While Mushfique was crisp Shabbir was in blistering mood. 119 runs came in even time. The pair played quality strokes all around the park. Shabbir and Mushfique were both run out.

Shabbir scored 57 off 58 deliveries with four boundaries and two massive sixes. Mushfique went on scoring 107 in 109 deliveries with 9 fours and a six. After their departure wicket fell in hips in quest of quick runs. Mashrafe and Arafat Sunny with some meaty blows could post a formidable score of 273 /9 before the overs ran out.

The target of 274 against a very potent Bangladesh attack of quality pacers and great spinners on a sporting wicket was always beyond the reach of the visitors. All six bowlers those Mashrafe used bowled with a plan.

But the peak was definitely the top all-rounder of all format of cricket Shakib grabbing his first five wickets haul in emphatic fashion.  His 5 / 47 was a classic display of brilliant left arm spin bowling.

Mashrafe chipped in with two and by doing that earned his 200 ODI wickets. Who said that the tiger leader was not match fit. The way he bowled, batted and fielded demonstrated that he is made for cricket and Bangladesh cricket. Bangladesh won handsome by 145 runs.

Mushfique for his classic innings of 107 deservedly won the man of the match award.
