DHAKA: Host New Zealand batsmen have scored a massive 341-run against the visiting Bangladesh in the first match of three-match One Day International series at Hagley Oval, Christchurch on Monday (December 26).
Kiwi opener Tom Latham hit a blazing knock of 137-run off 121-ball with the help of seven 4’s and four 6’s while Colin Munro whammed 87-run off 61-ball with eight 4’s and four 6’s.
Besides, Kane Williamson and Neil Broom scored 31 and 22 runs respectively helping the team to reach the massive total.
At one stage it seemed like the visitors would keep New Zealand to a reasonable total when they picked up a few quick wickets to leave them on 158 for 4.
But New Zealand never let the wickets affect their run rate, still going at nearly six an over. All credit for Tom Latham for that.
Shakib Al Hasan picked up three Kiwi wickets while Mustafizur Rahman and Taskin Ahmed took two wickets each.
Mustafizur was a bit expensive in his comeback match after a long lay off but still impressive with his variations.
Fielding, however, was a bit of a let-down today for Bangladesh.
