DHAKA: Miscreants torched several vehicles in different points in the city on Saturday ahead of countrywide 84-hour hartal called by BNP-led 18-party alliance.

The torching and vandalism triggered severely after the arrests of five top BNP leaders Friday night and early Saturday.

BNP backed student wing Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal set fire on a double-decker bus in Razarbagh area and another Dhaka Paribahan bus at Gulistan at around 5.00pm.

Witness said fire fighters rushed to the spot to douse flame.

Besides, the miscreants torched a bus of Zabale Nur Paribahan in Taltola area of Agargaon in the capital in the evening.

Earlier, pro-hartal activists torched a BRTC bus near Jatrabari area in the morning.
