DHAKA: Two persons were killed in two separate road accidents in city’s Mirpur and Tejgaon areas on Tuesday. They both died as trucks rammed into them.

One of the deceased is identified as Mamtaj Begum (42) who died at 12:30 am. The other, who is yet to be identified, died at 6:00 am in Tejgaon.

Mirpur Thana sub-inspector Enamul Haque told banglanews that Mamtaj Begum was returning from her elder daughter Runa Aktar’s house in Pallabi to her house in Mirpur Dar-as-Salaam area with her younger daughter Sumi.

As a truck knocked their rickshaw, Mamtaj Begum died on spot. Seriously injured Sumi later got admitted to the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedic Rehabilitation (Pangu Hospital).

In a separate accident, a man died in Tejgaon industrial area as a truck rammed him while he was crossing the road.

Tejgaon Thana sub-inspector Rehan Uddin confirmed the matter to banglanews.
