The Election Commission (EC) has identified significant discrepancies in the registration application of the National Citizens Party (NCP), citing an incorrect party constitution and a shortfall in required voter support across multiple upazilas.
According to the EC's preliminary review, the NCP failed to demonstrate the presence of at least 200 verified voter-supporters in each of its 25 upazila-level committees — a key requirement for party registration.
In some upazilas, the same individual was listed multiple times as a supporter, raising further concerns about authenticity.
In a letter addressed to NCP convener Md. Nahid Islam, the EC’s Election Support Branch Deputy Secretary Md. Mahbub Alam Shah formally notified the party of the findings and granted a 15-day window to rectify the irregularities.
