Catherine West, the United Kingdom’s Minister for the Indo-Pacific, and Sarah Cooke, the British High Commissioner to Bangladesh, have expressed deep condolences following the Bangladesh Air Force aircraft crash in Dhaka on Sunday.

In an official message, Minister Catherine West said, “I am deeply saddened by reports of a Bangladesh Air Force jet that has crashed into a school in Dhaka, with many children affected. My thoughts are with all those who have suffered, especially the families of the victims and the injured.”

British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Sarah Cooke also expressed her sympathies, stating, “Concerned and saddened by reports of a Bangladesh Air Force training aircraft crash in Dhaka. Our thoughts are with those affected and with the emergency services responding.”

As a mark of respect, the Union Flag at the British High Commission in Dhaka is flying at half-mast in memory of those who lost their lives in the incident, according to a press release issued by British High Commission.

The crash took place on Sunday afternoon when a Bangladesh Air Force FT-7 training aircraft went down during a routine flight, crashing into the Milestone School and College campus in the capital’s Uttara area.

In this incident, the death toll from Monday’s Bangladesh Air Force training jet crash at Milestone College in Dhaka’s Uttara has climbed to 27.

A total of 78 people are currently being treated at various hospitals. Of the deceased, 20 bodies have been handed over to families, while one body remains unidentifiable. The pilot’s body has yet to be released.

At the Burn Institute alone, 10 patients have died, 42 remain admitted, with three in critical condition and five in ICU. Another 28 patients are receiving treatment at CMH.

Emergency services, including firefighters, police, and medical responders, arrived swiftly at the scene. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the crash.

The incident has prompted national mourning and international reactions, with messages of condolence and solidarity pouring in from diplomats and officials.
