MoFA launches probe into fire alarm during Consensus Commission dialogue

Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) today (July 28) said authorities have decided to conduct an in-depth investigation about sudden activation of the fire alarm system during dialogue between political parties and the National Consensus Commission.

A press release was issued in this regard by the ministry this afternoon.

Earlier, a dialogue between political parties and the National Consensus Commission was being held at the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka.

However, the meeting was briefly disrupted due to a sudden activation of the fire alarm system.

According to press release, the alarm went off at around 12:20pm while the meeting was in progress. As part of the Academy’s fire safety protocol, on-duty staff immediately inspected the premises to identify the source of the alert.

Initial investigation found no sign of fire or smoke within the building. However, to ensure full safety and rule out any potential risk, authorities have decided to conduct a more in-depth examination.

A five-member investigation committee has been formed, led by the Director of the Foreign Service Academy. The committee includes representatives from the Fire Service and Civil Defence Department and the Public Works Department.

The committee has been instructed to submit its findings within 24 hours.
