Milestone College jet crash: Death toll rises to 27

The death toll from Monday’s Bangladesh Air Force training jet crash at Milestone College in Dhaka’s Uttara has climbed to 27.

Professor Md Sayedur Rahman, special assistant to the chief adviser for the Health Ministry, confirmed the update during a press briefing at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery on Monday morning.

A total of 78 people are currently being treated at various hospitals. Of the deceased, 20 bodies have been handed over to families, while one body remains unidentifiable. The pilot’s body has yet to be released.

At the Burn Institute alone, 10 patients have died, 42 remain admitted, with three in critical condition and five in ICU. Another 28 patients are receiving treatment at CMH.

Rahman urged the public to pray for the injured children and avoid crowding hospitals. While blood supplies are stable, he mentioned some rare blood groups may still be needed.

The crash occurred around 1:30pm Monday when an F-7 aircraft struck a college building shortly after takeoff.
