MADARIPUR: Assailants beat a bank officer to death at Amgram in Rajoir upazila Tuesday morning.

The deceased was identified as Khabiruddin Madbar, 50, an officer in the Madaripur branch of Sonali bank.

Victim’s brother Kamruzzaman Madbar said Khabiruddin left his home at Amgram Telikandi for his workplace at about 8.30 am.

“As Khabiruddin reached near Amgram Bridge, a group of villagers, led by Azad Madbar, Azim and Mizanur, attacked him and beat him with hammer and iron rod, killing him on the spot.”

Kamruzzaman claimed that Khabiruddin was killed in a sequel to a land dispute.

Confirming the killing, Rajoir thana OC Moshiur Rahman said police recovered the body and sent to Madaripur Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
