Election Commission (EC) has cancelled the registration of 96 domestic election observer organizations that were approved under the previous Awami League government, following the implementation of a new policy framework.
Md Shariful Alam, Director of Public Relations at the EC, confirmed the matter on Thursday (July 17).
He said that all registrations granted under the now-defunct 2023 policy have been annulled in accordance with the newly issued "Domestic Election Observation Policy 2025".
“These organizations were registered under the former guidelines, which are no longer in effect,” Alam said.
