PABNA: A speeding truck rammed into a microbus in Ishwardi on Tuesday night, killing at least five people, including a union parishad chairman.

The deceased are KM Akhter Hossain, UP chairman of Ataikula, Rajab Ali, Tipu Hossain, Ali and Shamim Hossain.

Samiul Islam, Officer-in-Charge of Ishwardi Thana told banglanews that six people on a microbus were coming from Kushtia to Ataikula in Pabna when a truck from the opposite direction collided head-on with the vehicle at about 8:00 pm.

“Four on board the micro died instantly in the violent collision”, says a spot account of the terrible road accident.

Another micro passenger succumbed to his fatal injuries on way to hospital.

Micro-driver Yusuf Ali was injured critically in the accident and was rushed to Rajshahi Medical College hospital, the OC said.
