SHERPUR: Prosecutor of the International Crimes Tribunal Jeyad Al Malum Wednesday said they got enough evidences through spot investigation against Jamaat leader Md Kamaruzzaman to prove his involvement in wartime crimes.

“We have already detained identified war criminals, including Kamaruzzaman. Now we have got strong evidences against him which are enough for the trial,” he said at a press conference at Sherpur Circuit House at the end of their spot visit.

He also said the field-level investigation will be continued as part of the war-crime-trial proceedings.

About security of the witnesses he said, “The administration has already taken initiatives to provide them sufficient security.”

Additional Police Super Nurul Islam, also Investigation Officer, said, “We have visited several spots where the crimes had been committed and recorded important witness depositions and statements which should not be divulged at this moment”.

A six-member investigation team of the International Crimes Tribunal Tuesday started spot investigation into the crimes committed during the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War with an exclusive parley with a Rajakar of that time.

The team left Sherpur for Mymensingh late in the evening.
