BGB-smugglers clash in Satkhira: 1 held

SATKHIRA: A member of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) was injured in a clash with a gang smuggler on Kakdanga border under Kalaroa upazila of the district early Thursday.

The injured is Nayek Sebedar Amir Ali of Kakdanga BoP.

BGB, however, held driver of the human hauler, carrying smuggled goods, following the clash.

The detainee is Zahidul Islam, son of Nurul Islam of Keragachi village of the upazila.

Confirming the matter, Satkhira BGB-38 operation officer Major Anwarul Mazhar told banglanews that a group of smugglers were entering into Bangladesh from India with consignments of contraband Phensidyl syrup and fruits at around 4.00am. Noticing them, a patrol team of BGB chased the gang.

Being chased by BGB, the smugglers hurled brick bats at the law enforcers, leaving BGB man injured.

Later, BGB men fired seven rounds of blank shots and arrested a suspected smuggler.
