MADARIPUR: Two children drowned in a canal at Badurtola village in Kalkini upazila of the district on Monday.

The deceased were identified as Fahim, 4, son of Soleman Talukdar and Lamia, 3, daughter of Sentu of the village.

Local sources said Fahim and Lamia were playing on the bank of the canal around 1:00pm. At one stage, they fell into water of the canal and drowned.

After a frantic search, their families found them floating on the water and rushed them to Upazila Health Complex where doctor declared them dead.
