Govt has killed democracy says Fakhrul

DHAKA: BNP acting Secretary General MIrza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir alleged that the government has been killing democracy through filing false cases against men who have different views and killing opposition.

Fakhrul came up with the allegation in an Iftar party, arranged by National Democratic Party, in a city hotel on Saturday evening.

Fakhrul also said, “Incumbent government has killed democracy. They have seized power illegally for the second time.”

He further said, “We need to awake people against them and establish the right to franchise.”

Chairman of National Democratic Party Khandaker Golam Mortaza, Secretary General ALamgir Majumder, Khelafat Majlish AMeer Maulana Ishaque, Islami Oikkyajot Chairman Maulana Abdul Latif Nejami, Jatiya Ganatantric Party Chairman Shafiul Alam Pradhan, Kalyan Party Chairman Syed M Ibrahim Birpratik, APP Chairman Sheikh Shawkat Hossain Milu, Labour Party Chairman Dr Mostafizur Rahman Oran, Jatiya Party (Zafar) Chairman Kazi Zafar, LDP Secretary General Dr Redwan Ahmed, Muslim League President AHM Kamruzzaman, Islamic Party Chairman Advocate M Abdul Momin and People’s League President Advocate Garib-e-Newaz, among others, were present in the Iftar party.
