DHAKA: Police in a daylong drive detained 32 leaders and activists of BNP and its key ally Jamaat-e-Islami in the city in accusation of creating violence.
The detainees include BNP cultural wing Jatiyatabadi Samajik Sangskritik Sangstha (JASAS) joint secretary.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) mass media wing deputy police commissioner (DC) Masudur Rahman informed banglanews saying that the drives were conducted from Saturday 9:30am to Sunday 9:30am.
He said that 32 BNP and Jamaat-Shibir men were held in accusation of creating and instigating violence in different areas in the city.
Police are interrogating the detainees, the DC said adding that legal action will be taken against them following the quiz.
However, he did not disclose identities of the detainees due to the investigation.
