DHAKA: Left Democratic Alliance has called a half-day hartal in the country on July 7 (Sunday) in the protest against the increase of gas price.
The decision was taken at an emergency meeting of the Central Council of the Left Democratic Alliance on Monday (July 1) noon.
After the meeting, Left Democratic Alliance provided the information in a press release.
It said that the Alliance has called for the nationwide half-day hartal (6am to 2pm) on July 7, in protest of the increase in gas prices, demand to reduce the price of cylinder gas and to protest the public sufferings’ budget.
General Secretary of United Communist League Mosharraf Hossain Nannu was in the chair.
The meeting was attended by CPB general secretary Mohammad Shah Alam, BaSaD General Secretary Khalequzzaman, general secretary of the Biplobi Workers Party Saiful Haque, BaSaD (Marxist) leader Shuvranshu Chakraborty, Chief Coordinator of Ganasanghati Andolan, Zonaid Saki, Socialist Andolon convener Hamidul Haque, Mominul Islam of the Democratic Biplobi Party.
The Central council of the Left Democratic Alliance urged the countrymen to observe the hartal on July 7.
When asked about the matter, Bazlur Rashid Firoz, the central leader of BaSaD, told Banglanews that the hartal was called in the country from 6am to 2pm on July 7 protesting gas price hike.
