DHAKA: A Dhaka court granted bail to Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) Secretary General Redwan Ahmed who was earlier detained at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport for carrying firearm and bullets.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Dhiman Chandra Mandal on Monday (July 1) granted him bail upon Tk 500 bond till the next date after hearing arguments of both sides.

Airport police station Sub-Inspector Mohammad Moshiul Alam, the investigation officer of the case, pleaded to the court for sending the accused Redwan Ahmed to jail. And the lawyer pleaded for the bail of the accused.

Earlier, Security forces detained Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) Secretary General Redwan Ahmed carrying bullets at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport here Monday (July 1).

He was detained around 9am, said aviation security force.

Sources said Redwan came to the airport in the morning, to catch a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight to fly for Chattogram.

Seven rounds of bullet were found in his bag while scanning at the internal terminal checkpoint.

"Redwan Ahmed said he has brought the bullets mistakenly," said the airport's aviation security director wing commander Obaidur Rahman.

The LDP leader was handed over to Airport Police Station, he confirmed.
