DHAKA: Awami League General Secretary also Minister for Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader on Friday (July 19) categorically said there is no scope to treat corruptive activities from any mild point of view.
"Moreover, there is no second explanation of corruption," he said.
He made the remarks at a press briefing held at Awami League President's Political Office in Dhanmondi, in wake of Thursday's remark of Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Chairman Iqbal Mahmood that drew widespread criticism.
"(We shall) see 'corruption' as corruption, for obvious. Bribery is bribery, corruption is corruption," Quader replied to a question of reporters.
"I don't know in what logic what he wanted to mean by the 'simple belief'. There is no scope to treat corruption from any different angle," added the minister.
Awami League Organizing Secretary Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, Office Secretary Abdus Sobhan Golap and Deputy Office Secretary Barrister Biplob Barua, among others, were present.
