DHAKA: Both income and expenditure of ruling Awami League increased in last six straight years, according to a financial statement submitted to the Election Commission (EC).  

A team of Awami League headed by its co-chairman of election-steering committee HT Imam submitted the record to EC secretary Md Alamgir Wednesday (July 31).

The party earned Tk 24,23,42,707 and spent Tk 18,87,80,557 in last calendar year of 2018. The rest amount of Tk 37,57,78,587 is in fund.

HT Imam revealed the information at EC media center.

According to EC Election Management Wing, Awami League saw rise in income in last six consecutive years.

The party earned Tk 20,24,96,436 in 2017, Tk 4,84,34,097 in 2016, Tk 7,11,61,375 in 2015, Tk 9,05,45,643 in 2014 and Tk 12,4000000 in 2013.

However, political parties are obliged to submit respective financial statement each year after the registration system was introduced in 2008.
