BRAHMANBARIA: Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Advocate Anisul Huq said verdict will be executed after bringing the fugitive killers of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman back to home from abroad.
“Legal and diplomatic efforts have been reinforced to bring back the killers of Bangabandhu. Their verdict will be executed after bringing them back wherever they are”, he said this while addressing a rally at Akhaura Rail station premises on Friday (August 16).
"We know whereabouts of the fugitive killers of Bangabandhu. Information is being gathered to get back four absconding killers of its founding father. However, we will bring back him who is in America," he added.
He further said those who are hatching conspiracy against the country would be uprooted.
Senior leaders of upazila unit Awami League were present in the meeting, with Akhura Upazila AL convener Joynal Abedin in the chair.
Later, special prayers were offered for the forgiveness of souls of those who were martyred on August 15.
In 2010, a Dhaka court convicted 12 suspects and awarded them the death penalty. Out of these self-proclaimed killers, five were hanged on Jan 28 that year. Six other are absconding. Of them, Abdul Aziz Pasha, who was hiding in Zimbabwe, died there in 2001.
