CHATTOGRAM: A total of 453 leaders and activists of BNP and Jamaat were indicted in a case over carrying out an attack on police in 2015.
The court of Mohammad Abdul Halim, judge of Anti-Terrorism Tribunal, formed the charges on Sunday (August 25).
BNP Standing committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Chattogram South District Unit BNP President Jafrul Islam Chowdhury, Metropolitan Unit President Shahadat Hossain and Secretary General Abul Hashem, Joint Secretary General Aslam Chowdhury, Central member Shamsul Alam and former Jamaat lawmaker Shahjahan Chowdhury are among the indicted.
The accused carried out a planned attack on police during a celebration program marking anniversary of January 5, 2014 national election, vowing to create unrest in the country, said the tribunal's state counsel Monoranjan Das.
Police filed the case with Chattogram Kotwali Police Station under Explosives and Anti-Terrorism Acts.
