DHAKA: The Election Commission will hold by-election on October 5 to the Rangpur-3 constituency that fell vacant for the death of Jatiya Party chairman HM Ershad. The voting will be held using the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM).
Additional Secretary of the Election Commission Md Mokhlesur Rahman announced the election schedule at a press conference on Sunday (September 1) at the media center of Agargaon Election Bhaban in the capital.
He said that voting at the vacant seat will be held from 9am to 5pm on October 5.
According to the announced schedule, the last date for filing nomination papers is September 9, and scrutiny of nomination papers on September 11. And the candidacy can be withdrawn till September 16.
The parliamentary seats fell vacant after the death of Jatiya Party chairman Hussain Muhammad Ershad on July 14.
