DHAKA: BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said his party to keep its movement uninterrupted vowing to restore democracy in Bangladesh, releasing the party chief from jail and holding a fair national election.
"The movement for restoring democracy and Khaleda Zia's release will be more accelerated in future," he said after placing floral wreath to BNP founding president Ziaur Rahman's graveyard here marking 41st founding anniversary of BNP Saturday (September 1).
Alleging that BNP leaders and activists across the country are being barred from celebrating the founding anniversary, Mirza Fakhrul said people have no rights of expressing opinions.
"The government wants to uproot opposing politics and dissenting opinions and for that, has kept all sorts of plots and conspiracies on,"
"The government is doing whatever are needed to suppress dissenting opinions," added Mirza Fakhrul Islam Almagir.
BNP Standing committee members Dr Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Barrister Moudud Ahmed, Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan, Nazrul Islam Khan, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Vice Chairmen Md Shahjahan, Dr AZM Zahid Hossain, Advocate Ahmed Azam Khan, Mir Mohammad Nasir Uddin and Shahjahan Omar, joint and organizing secretaries and leaders of associate wings Jubo Dal, Swecchasebak Dal and Mohila Dal also paid tributes to Ziaur Rahman on the occasion.
