DHAKA: The way to holding the Muktijoddha central command council election was finally cleared as the Chamber Judge of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court Wednesday gave the go-ahead.

Chamber Judge SK Sinha gave his ruling upholding the High Court order disposing of a petition seeking to cancel the Muktijoddha central command council polls.

The Chamber Judge issued the order after hearing on a petition against the HC order.

“There is no bar now to holding the election according to the court order,” said a lawyer.

An HC division bench had disposed of the petition challenging the election of the freedom fighters’ central body, giving some directions.

Additional Attorney-General Murad Reza told journalists that now the Muktijoddha central command council has to work abiding by the court’s guidelines.
