DHAKA: Jatiya Party (JP) Secretary General Moshiur Rahman Ranga apologized for his controversial remarks on Shahid Noor Hossain.
A release on Ranga’s statement confirmed the matter on Tuesday (November 12).
Earlier, Noor Hossain’s family staged a sit-in in front of the Jatiya Press Club on Monday (November 11), protesting controversial remarks on the martyr of the anti-Ershad movement in the late 80s.
Noor Hossain’s mother Mariam Bibi said: “Noor Hossain is not my only son. He is the son of the people. He (Ranga) calls people's son an addict. If he (Noor) was a drug addict, he would not have given his life for the country. I seek justice from people. I seek justice from Allah.”
Asked if she wants to file a case, she said: “I told my son, case should be filed. I’m willing to file a case.”
Earlier on Sunday (November 10), Ranga claimed that Noor Hossain was a ‘yaba’ and ‘Phensedyl’ addict at a discussion in JP’s North branch of metropolitan. Afterwards, an outcry circulated over social networking site.
