DHAKA: Nirmal Ranjan Guha was elected as president while and Afzalur Rahman Babu general secretary of Swechchhasebak League, the volunteer wing of the ruling Awami League.

Ishak Mia and Anisur Rahman Nayeem was made president and general secretary of the organisation’s north city unit while Kamrul Hasan and Tareque Sayeed elected as president and general secretary of its south city unit.

AL general secretary Obaidul Quader announced their names after the end of the second session of the council, held at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) in the capital on Saturday afternoon.

Earlier in the morning, AL President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the council of Swechchhasebak League.
