BNP to hold rallies on Nov 23 for Khaleda's release

DHAKA: BNP will stage rallies across the country, including the capital on Saturday (November 23), demanding unconditional release of its chairperson Khaleda Zia from jail.

Party senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi announced the programmes at a press conference at the party’s Nayapaltan central office on Tuesday (November 19).

On the same day, a protest rally will be held in front of their central office in city’s Nayapaltan at 2pm. 

A doa mahfil will be arranged at their party offices across the country on Wednesday (November 20), marking the 54th birth anniversary of their party acting chairman Tarique Rahman.   

On Thursday (November 21), another doa mahfil will be at central office in Nayapaltan at 11 am. 

On February 8 of 2018, a Dhaka court sentenced Khaleda Zia to five years imprisonment in Zia Orphanage Trust case.

She was sent to Dhaka central jail following the verdict. Since then, she has been in jail.

She has been receiving treatment from BSMMU since April 1 of this year.
