DHAKA: BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that people of the ruling Awami League are responsible for increasing prices of all products including of electricity.

He made the observation at a press conference held at the party office in Nayapaltan at 11:30 pm on Tuesday (Dec 03).

During that time, Mirza Fakhrul claimed, the prices of many items have even tripled. Businessmen of the ruling party made huge profit by creating artificial crisis of onion, he added.

Mirza Fakhrul said that the BNP has held various programs in the past protesting price hike of goods and electricity and will do so in the future. Since all the people of the country are affected by the increase in the prices of all the goods starting from electricity,   not only BNP, so people must come forward and protest.

He also said that an accountable government is needed to keep all essentials at a standard level, including the price of goods. In order to safeguard independence, sovereignty and democratic system of the country, the government must be compelled to hold a free and fair election under a neutral government, after canceling the so-called election. Otherwise, high-priced commodities are not problem of the daily life of the people;   the future life of the nation will become more unbearable and distressing.

Other BNP leaders were present at the conference.
