DHAKA: Three leaders have bought BNP’s nomination forms for the mayoral posts of Dhaka North and South City Corporation elections.
Three of them collected nomination forms from BNP’s cental office in Nayapaltan of the capital on Thursday (December 26).
The three aspirants are--Ishraq Hossain, son of former mayor of undivided Dhaka City Corporation late Sadeque Hossain Khoka, BNP executive committee member Tabith Awal and Special Secretary Asaduzzaman Ripon.
BNP's secretary of co-office Munir Hossain told Banglanews: “Three people have taken forms for mayor posts till 5 pm. Forms can be collected till Friday (December 27). However, forms must be submitted by 5pm on Friday. The nominees will be interviewed on Saturday (December 28).”
Elections to DNCC and DSCC were slated for January 30.
The Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda said the deadline for submission of nomination papers was fixed on December 31, scrutiny of nomination papers on January 2, withdrawal of candidacy on January 9, symbol allocation on January 10. And voting will be held on January 30.
