DHAKA: Awami League (AL) President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina declared Al-Nahean Khan Joy and Lekhak Bhattacharjee president and general secretary respectively of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), the student wing of the party.
The premier made the announcement while addressing the reunion program at Suhrawardy Udyan in Dhaka on Saturday (Jan 04), marking the 72nd founding anniversary of BCL.
At the program, party General Secretary Obaidul Quader earlier proposed removing the word "acting" from their posts.
In her speech, the Awami League chief said: "Party general secretary has made the proposal and I approved it. I have relieved them from their acting posts. From now on, Joy is the president of Chhatra League and Lekhak is its general secretary."
On September 14, 2019, Al-Nahean Khan Joy and Lekhak Bhattacharjee were made the student body's acting president and acting general secretary soon after the then president Rezwanul Haque Chowdhury Shovon and general secretary Golam Rabbani had been removed from the posts.
