NILPHAMARI:  Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said EVM system is globally-recognized in city corporation polls, but BNP doesn’t want modern system. Therefore, they are denouncing digital system.

He was addressing a winter clothes distribution programme at Five Star ground at Saidpur upazila in the district on Saturday (January 11).

The AL general secretary handed over the blankets among the district unit leaders for distribution while he also distributed 3,000 blankets among cold-hit people on the occasion.

Criticizing BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Obaidul Quader said he (Fakhrul) is from northern part of the country. People of this region are suffering in this severe cold while he is sitting in Dhaka. He is not found among people.

He also said the government and Awami League stand by cold-stricken people. Blankets have been distributed among 50,000 people of north region.
