Veteran Journalist, politician and former vice-president of Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) Ferdous Ahmed Qureishi died on Monday. He was 79.

He breathed his last at around 2:30 pm at his residence in Uttara, said his daughter Anindita Shabnam Qureishi.

Qureishi was the DUCSU vice-president in 1969. He was also the chairman of Progressive Democratic Party and the former editor of Daily Desh Bangla.
