Atika Bushra was admitted to the Department of Accounting and Information Systems at Dhaka University (DU) this academic year, overcoming all extreme adversities.

Her father is a farmer and her mother is a housewife. They have nothing except a house and a small piece of land. Her invincible wilfulness, stubbornness to her study and the help of Bashundhara Group have brought success to her life.

Now, Atika wishes to be a chartered accountant and secure a dignified job at home or abroad after completing her education at DU.

Atika passed the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination from Kurigram Government Girls’ High School with GPA-5 from the science department in 2021.

Despite having limited financial means, she was able to get admitted to Holy Cross College in Dhaka with the assistance of her close relatives and family.

Bashundhara Shuvosangho supported her during an acute financial crisis while she was studying in the college, providing her with a monthly scholarship.

With this support, she was able to achieve her goal of studying at DU.

She expressed her gratitude to Bashundhara and its voluntary platform Shuvosangho. “The greatest support of the business conglomerate was with me, and it will remain for me in the future to fulfil my dream,” she said.

Atika also expressed her desire to engage in social welfare work for the betterment of her village and the country.
