Several ministers, state ministers and heads of the law enforcement agencies are holding an emergency meeting over contemporary issues including the banning of Jamaat-Shibir politics at the conference room of the Home Ministry in Dhaka on Tuesday.
The meeting will also discuss other issues, such as the quota reform movement and its aftermath, the withdrawal of the curfew, and the overall law and order situation.
The meeting began around 3:20 PM with seven ministers and four state ministers in attendance.
At one point, State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Mohammad Ali Arafat came out of the meeting and informed the waiting journalists that the discussion was focusing extensively on the overall issues related to the quota reform movement.
He said that militant groups have been planning attacks on the Ganabhaban and Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport under the guise of the quota reform movement, which was being addressed in the meeting.
However, he clarified that the quota reform protesters had no intention of carrying out such attacks.
“We are assessing all perspectives. It appears to have been a plan orchestrated by a third party,” he added.
