After fall of Sheikh Hasina regime law and order across country faced a big blow and members of the police were frightened to join duties as agitators are still agitated.

However, 29 out of 50 police stations under the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) partially resumed operations on Friday (August 9) morning with army protection.

On Monday afternoon, the fall of the Sheikh Hasina-led government encouraged an angry mob to carry out revenge attacks on a number of police stations prompting almost all police personnel to flee their stations across the country.

On Friday morning, a press conference was held at the Tajgaon police station to announce the resumption of activities in the capital's 29 police stations, which have sustained virtually no or partial damages from the mob attacks. But some of the reopened police stations have no seating capacity for officers.

A limited number of police personnel have returned to the 29 stations, but are still weary of their safety while many resumed services in plain clothes. Army troops and ansar members are providing security to the returning police personnel.

Police stations in the following areas have resumed partial activities: Ramna, Kalabagan, Dhanmondi, Shahbagh, Hazaribagh, New Market, Kotwali, Chawkbazar, Badda, Airport, Uttarkhan, Uttara Paschim, Banani, Cantonment, Rupnagar, Darussalam, Bhashantek, Kafrul, Shah Ali, Hatirjheel, Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Tejgaon, Gulshan, Shahjahanpur, Bhatara, Demra, Sabujbagh, Motijheel and Gendaria.
