Chief Adviser of the interim government Dr Muhammad Yunus is set to lead a team of seven people to the 79th Session of the UN General Assembly in New York from September 22 to 29.
Those who will accompany the Chief Adviser include his daughter Deena Afroz Yunus, Debapriya Bhattacharya from the white paper committee on the economy, and Shahidul Alam, Managing Director of Drik.
Others in the group include Lamiya Morshed, Principal Coordinator for SDG Affairs; Mahfuj Alam, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser; Shabbir Ahmad, Assistant Private Secretary to Dr Yunus; and Aysha Siddique Tithi, a student at BRAC University.
This modest delegation stands in stark contrast to past ones. In 2015, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina travelled to the 70th UNGA with a 227-member team to attend the assembly and the UN Sustainable Development Summit.
