Bangladesh warns India over attempts to create communal instability

Shipping and Labor and Employment Advisor Brig. Gen. Dr. M Sakhawat Hossain (retd) warned that the 180 million people of Bangladesh will not remain silent if neighboring India attempts to incite communal unrest.

"Such actions will not be favorable for India either," he added.

Dr. Hossain made these remarks on Tuesday (Dec 3) during a visit to the jetty of the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) in Narayanganj's Bandar area.

He expressed concerns over certain Indian media and political parties allegedly seeking to stoke communal tensions for political purposes, emphasizing that any instability in Bangladesh could also have repercussions for India.

Dr. Hossain reaffirmed his belief in the potential for a strong and mutually beneficial relationship between Bangladesh and India, based on equality and shared interests.

He was accompanied by BIWTA Chairman Commodore Arif Ahmed Mustafa, Police Superintendent Pratyush Kumar Majumder, and BIWTA Director Arif Uddin during his visit.
