Dhaka ranked 32nd among cities with the worst air quality on Tuesday morning, recording an Air Quality Index (AQI) score of 66 at 10am, classifying its air as ‘moderate’ and posing a light health threat.
The AQI showed improvement compared to Monday’s reading of 145, which was labeled ‘unhealthy for sensitive groups’.
Lahore, Delhi, and Kampala topped the list with the worst air, recording AQI scores of 159, 149, and 147 respectively.
The AQI measures air pollution levels based on five key pollutants and helps assess potential health risks.
As per World Health Organization (WHO), air pollution kills an estimated seven million people worldwide every year.
