MYMENSINGH: A Mymensingh court on Wednesday issued an arrest warrant against Supreme Court lawyer Dr Tuhin Malik in a case filed for derogatory remark on religion and hurting religious sentiment.

The Mymensingh No-1 Cognizance Court Judge Ahsan Habib passed the order.

Momtaz Uddin Monta, district Awami League (AL) organizing secretary and also younger brother of religious affairs minister, filed the case.

He said, in the statement, Tuhin Malik in a ‘Talk Show’ of a private television channel commented that “Tongi’s Turag river bank gathering means a picnic”.

The SC lawyer has hurt the religious sentiment of the devotees by this remark, he added.

The lawyer of the case Advocate Abdur Rahman Al Hussain Taz said the case was filed under the section 295(A) and 298 of penal code.
