NEW YORK: In a wake of several embarrassing situations, Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) discharged Dr Mujibur Rahman Majumder and Zahid F Sarder Saddi from their duties for publishing fake statement of US Congressmen.

BNP vice-chairman Sadeque Hossain Khoka disclosed the development at a press conference held at Food Court Restaurant at Jackson Heights in New York on Tuesday.

Khoka said they are looking into the matter whether Mujibur and Saddi issued a fake statement of the US Congressmen.

The former mayor of undivided Dhaka City Cooperation went on saying that he is maintaining regular conversations with the party chief Khaleda Zia in Dhaka and she is giving him instructions.

Mentioning the party office under lock and key, Khoka said he has been given responsibility to inform the media staying abroad as performing normal activities not possible in Dhaka.

On November 17, 2013, BNP appointed both Mujibur and Saddi as its "Foreign Envoy and Special Advisor" for liaison and lobby with government officials and political leaders of other countries, according to a post on Saddi’s Facebook page posted on November 22, 2013.
